I guess I will be going to the ball ...

.. or rather to the festival. Strange how this one has come about after all. I applied for a pitch to do crochet workshops back in January and got initially accepted. Then the second dog came along plus I had double booked myself for the 27th June, so I sent them an email cancelling my stall. The powers above obviously didn't agree with my decision. On Monday I had a letter from Ireland through containing 2 traders' tickets, a car parking pass and a car routing pass. As the planned workshop on 27th got cancelled by the shop (they forgot to advertise it, so nobody booked a place) I find myself in the position to be free during the dates of the infamous Glastonbury Festival. Then I panicked! I had nobody to go with me and no car. The friend who initially said that she would be doing it with me had long found out that she was going to be doing exams that week. So ... I posted a panic thread on my lovely HepC Forum and guess what? Yes, a friend from there stepped up and said that she would love to go with me. Not only is she a really really lovely person to be with, but also has the gift of the gab to draw the punters in AND a big car for us to take to the festival. How could I not go with all things that much in favour of it? So, she is coming up from Cornwall on Sunday, we get the van packed and go on site on Monday. Tuesday mornings are Health & Safety checks, so the workshop space has to be set up for that. The actual classes start on Wednesday morning 10am. I have worked out that if we get only 5 people per workshop, that means £75 per day, which in 5 days makes .... £375. Hopefully though the attendance is better. Fingers crossed. It would be nice to walk away with about £500 profit. That would buy a little run around car for me and the dogs :-) Which in due course would mean, I can spread myself with the workshops.

So, at the moment I am busy knocking out some decorations for the gazebo as well as making some signs as the contract says, that there have to be signs up with the name as well as the workshop times AND the place has to look inviting. I am using the leftover flowers from the last yarn bomb to make some garlands, and instead of just painting some boring sign, I have bought 2 black pillow cases onto which I am embroidering "Karina's Creatures - Amirgurumi Workshops" and the said times. At the same time I should be doing some washing, ironing, packing, price labelling my wares as I can sell them there too, go shopping and and and ... I am running around like a headless chicken!!!

I have also got an interview this afternoon at a local arts centre. This would just be for a few hours a week doing their book keeping. Let's see how that one pans out. I am not holding too much hope for it, there are more qualified people than me out there. However, I have done this sort of work for a theatre company before. I will just go there and take it very easy in the interview. After all, I am not desperate.

Signing off for now, just wanted to update you all and show, that I am still alive. Lots of Love, Peace, Sex, Drugs & Rock'n Roll :-D

  1. Fishy,
I am glad you are alive and well and that things are going good. I wish I could go to Glastonbury. I couldn't afford the flight and my damn passport expired though.

    Have fun and much love,

  5. ps: can you tell me the correct translation of this:
Einmal kam Gott zu Besuch, und Eva zeigte ihm ihre Kinder, die er recht hoffnungsvoll fand.
It's the second bit, "die er recht hoffnungsvoll fand" I don't understand. I don't get it... he found the children full of hope? Is that a special idiom or something..?
I wrote a post today titled Vorsprung Durch Technik, about my efforts with the German language that you might find quite interesting ;->...

  7. Hi all, back now! Need to do a blog entry ... but too tired and weary at the moment. Tomorrow maybe.

Gled, the correct translation would be 'hopeful', which then can be interpreted as either that the children were hopeful or that he had hope for the children. I reckon that is intentional. Going to read your blog entry re: German now.
